As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. 2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. 3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. Ephesians 4:1-3

Careers and Our Youth

October 17, 2023

Greetings, My Grant Hill Family!

Trustfully, the last few posts were of some assistance. This week, I would like to focus on an important educational and hiring area that will assist in defining the future of our younger generation. These individuals may be our own children, grandchildren, stepchildren, nieces, nephews or children of our concern.

We usually ask our children at a young age, “What do they want to be when they grow up?” They respond with doctors, nurses, firemen, etc.

But, how often do we follow through with their interests?

Remember, we are their personal mentors also. As early as elementary years, we should ensure that our children can identify pictures, such X-rays, stethoscopes, fire hydrants, hoses, etc. which can be an initial vision of their future careers. We should always support our younger generations through course selections throughout their school years. Building strong relationships with the staff (principal, teachers, guidance counselors, etc.) shows your great concern over your student’s future, and they will acknowledge and treat your student with more concern and respect for their future goals.

Inquire about the availability of vocational courses (cosmetology, nursing, technology, automotive care, computers) that will enhance experience towards professional careers.
Include work-study programs in your inquiry. In my next post, I will be providing some direct hiring resources for our students as well as adults that I have had on-hand experience with.

Stay Happy and Blessed!
