The Faithful Love Between A Daughter-in-law and Mother-in-law

Ruth 1:16-17 (KJV)
And Ruth said, Entreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God: Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the LORD do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me.
One of my most favorite Bible stories is found in the Book of Ruth. It shows the unselfish faithfulness and love between a mother-in-law and her daughter-in-law. This story is so dear to my heart because not only was I blessed with the greatest mother ever, but I had a mother-in-law who was my Naomi. Like Naomi she was Loving, faithful, beautiful and God-fearing. She was in my life since I was a teen. She was always there for me when I needed someone to talk to and as I grew up I was there for her as well. We had a mutual love, we were beyond In-laws, she was truly like a mother to me. She looked out for me and was always willing to give Godly counsel. People thought that I was her daughter instead of her daughter-in-law. When I married her son a part of our vows was Ruth 1:16. Like Naomi and Ruth we loved each other and nothing but death separated us. I knew that I wanted to be this kind of mother-in-law to my daughters husbands, Loving, faithful, and kind. One that would look out for the greater good, regardless. This Book is so inspirational and every time I read it I always remember “Bert” Coker the greatest mother-in-law ever. I hope that anyone who is planning to get married or is struggling with their relationship with their mother-in-law would pray earnestly that God will give them a mother-in-law with a Naomi Spirit and that they would themselves develop a Ruth Spirit. It takes two y’all. Blessings!
Prayer:
Father I pray now in the name of Jesus for every married woman and man, that You would bless them with a Naomi. An in-law that will love them in spite of, one that will be kind to them and one that would cherish and respect them. I pray Father that they too would have the heart of Ruth to be faithful and loving toward their in-laws. So that being in their presence would be a joy and a blessing. Lord I thank You for how You blessed me with my Naomi, help me to always strive to be that person. In Jesus Name. Amen!
