“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” 2Timothy 1:7
A God’s Truth Moment:
Pastor gave this word of encouragement to a few that had been called to stretch out on a God assignment. He stated not to fall for the tricks of the enemy leading to feelings of being overwhelmed and lost. The enemy wants to make life seem irrelevant. But no matter what illusions the enemy displays, “Stay on Purpose.”
I was reminded of the Apostle Paul’s message of encouragement to Timothy in his role as a servant of God; to keep the faith, to keep going, to keep sharing God’s Truth.
As Timothy battled with a spirit of fear and timidity, Paul encouraged him to speak the truth of the gospel with boldness. In the words of our dear sister minister, “Stay on Purpose.”
When it comes to doing work for the Kingdom of God, we should do it with courage and boldness. God does not want us to shrink back from doing what He has called us to do. He has given us everything we need to get the job done. God doesn’t call the equipped, He equips the called. And, He’s right there with us, for He promised never to leave us or forsake us. We may go through experiences that seem as if it will take us out, but they’re to make us overcomers in God.
We must allow the Spirit of God to control us to move forward, empowered to do God’s will. Don’t focus on your abilities or what could potentially happen. If you do, then fear will arise. You see, in and of ourselves we can do nothing. With God we can do all things. We must be filled with the Spirit of God who will help us overcome the spirit of fear.
Now let me say this, it is human nature to become fearful, it’s a natural human emotion, especially when faced with uncertainties in life, such as an unfavorable diagnosis, job loss, financial challenges, an uncertain future, etc. You don’t have to be fearless, just don’t be overcome with fear. Don’t allow fear to control you. God understands our human emotions and because He understands who we are, He encourages us not to be afraid.
Regardless of how great the opposition, God is with us. Understand that fear will come but there is one greater who lives inside of us, and by His power and His strength we will be able to overcome any fear. We will be able to do what He wants us to do, when He wants us to do it, because He has given us what we need to do it.
Our job is simply to “Stay on Purpose,” to do what He has commissioned us to do, in His power!
Father in Heaven, I say thank You, because I know that Your blessing is on my life. Your blessings follow me wherever I go. It causes increase and advantages that otherwise would not be possible. I praise You God for who You are and what You have done. Today I choose to release everything that has tried to hold me back. I release the past. I release bitterness. I release failures and missed opportunities. Instead I embrace Your grace and power to boldly move forward, “Staying on Purpose.” I recognize the trick of the enemy for what it is, to immobilize, create fear, look within myself for the answer instead of looking to You to provide the way of escape. Thank You for sending encouragers at the time of need. Your way and Your timing are always perfect.
We pray as we’ve been assigned for the church during this season of pandemic. Even though we don’t understand the where, why, when, how, what, God You understand and know the answer. We put our trust in You, God! We will not move ahead of you. We will continue to use the means You’ve established to stay connected, to be the church that You are coming back for. It’s not the local church, it’s the universal church, the body of believers that You seek after. We pray for all You’ve called to lead Your people. Bless them that their motives for leading come from a good place, a God’s Place.
We will not forsake the assembling of ourselves together when You say it is time. But until then, we will continue the means You’ve provided for us to stay connected.
We love, honor and adore You our God, our Savior, our Redeemer. In Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen!
In His Hands,
