Good Morning, My Blog Readers!
Here’s a God’s Truth that was dropped in my spirit during my morning walk.
A few weeks ago, I blogged about my “taking a spill” experience. You see, prior to me falling, I had been walking three miles, at least three days a week. As I tried to resume my routine after the fall, I noticed it was very painful to do more than one and a half miles. Although I didn’t let that stop me, I did what I could each week gradually getting up to two miles, with some minor discomfort letting me know that was my limit for the day. I thanked God that I was able to do the two miles, mixed with a little murmuring about how I USED to be able to do three miles. How you “gonna” thank God AND complain? Oh, that’s a message all by itself! Lord, HELP a sistah!
Anyhow, as I continued my walks, I made the choice to shift my focus from what I used to be able to do, to just being grateful and content of what I could do, the 2 miles. And when I did that, my walks became more enjoyable. I started to experience joy during my walk / praise time. As I stretched out on this morning to complete the two miles and get on with my day, I sensed something
different in my strides. I asked God to allow me to finish my walk and when I was finished, minus the murmuring, I thanked Him for answering my prayer. This morning God gave me more than what I expected.
Ephesians 3:20
I had expected to just do the two miles that I had now become accustomed to achieving. God had greater in store for me on this day. He allowed me to walk three and a half miles this morning. Thank You God! You see, God wants us to have so much more than what we can hope or think. My hope was, one day I would get back to three miles. Don’t box yourself in that you miss out on the greater God has for you. What a mighty God we serve! The message God gave “You must stop putting limits on what God can do through you.”
Philippians 4:13
The apostle Paul found the secret of being able to overcome in all circumstances. Jesus gave him the strength to do so (Philippians 4:12-13). When we have the mind of Christ, we will understand that it isn’t the situation that’s the problem, it’s how we think about the situation that makes it easier or more difficult. If we are willing to surrender the situation to God, we can rest in the knowledge He will take care of it. Being anxious and having negative thoughts will not help to turn the problem around. The scripture says “I can do ALL things through Christ who gives me strength”. When we take the focus off of what we don’t have or what we can’t do, and become content in our circumstance, which can only come through Christ who gives us the strength to do so, then we can experience joy in the midst of what we can’t change or what seems impossible. God will give us the strength to persevere. And that perseverance will allow us to do what we didn’t think we could. Now to you, this may seem an insignificant thing. So, you were able to walk three and a half miles, you maybe saying! And I probably would never had shared this with anyone had God not orchestrated it to be so with this blogging. But look at it this way, if My God cares enough about the small details of our life that He is moved to favor us with the desires of our heart, then what do you think He will do concerning significant things? God’s truth is “If we delight ourselves in the Him, He will give us the desires of our heart.” Psalm 37:4 But remember, it pleases Him to do so, when our desires are in His will. What kind of Daddy God would He be to be pleased in giving us our desires that are harmful to us? He loves us and wants nothing but the best for us!
I want to encourage you and myself to stop limiting what God can do in our life. When we rely on our own power, we are limiting God. Leaning on our own power will diminish our ability to do great things. We are incomplete and ineffective without God.
As we open up our life to God and allow Him to minister to us, we can expect God to do great things and expect His favor in our life. We must take a step forward with confidence and not step back in fear, letting our mind tell us that we are not capable, qualified or able? To many times, we settle for things being the way that they are because we’ve gotten comfortable. God is calling us to move out of our comfort zone. I dare you to take the limits off and allow God to work in and through you! We’re His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works.
Prayer – Heavenly Father, God of all that I am. My Creator, Sustainer, Giver of every good and perfect gift, and desires of our heart, Provider of everything that we need, Good morning! I am so thankful for Your everlasting love towards me. Grateful for You watching over me, allowing me to see a new day. Thank You God for the opportunity to move forward in You. I pray for increase wisdom, knowledge and understanding from You. Keep us alert as we go through our days, sensitive to the need of others. Lord God forgive us of the times we’ve placed limits on what You can and want to do in our lives. You’ve told us that through Your strength we can do all things. Help us to let this not just be a whimsical saying, but a reality that we walk in. It is only through You we receive the strength to experience joy in what may seem impossible. For You are our strength, our peace, our hope, our joy like no other. I praise and bless You in Your Son Jesus’ Name. Amen!
