It’s A New Year! Go Forth in Peace!

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27

A God’s Truth Moment

Going into the new year with trepidation from the previous year’s turmoil is enough to rob us of our sleep and activate complete unrest if we let it.  Watching the news for even a few seconds indicates just how scary the world is, especially what has played out this week.

We must not allow the disruptions due to COVID-19, disappointments due to failed attempts, opportunities that didn’t pan out, or relationships that couldn’t be sustained to hurled us into becoming a walking ball of anxiety, fear, and regret. We must quit wasting our energy dragging the failures of yesterday into the future, and start using that energy for kingdom purpose.

God wants to calm our spirit.  He does not want us to live in fear, but in full faith that He is the ruler of the world.  Regardless of the outside noise and disharmony, in God’s hands is the gift of peace.  With that in view, we can let go, relax and breathe.  God is in control of every situation, even if we can’t see or understand.

God has given us the grace not to remain the same but change and move forward in peace.

Thank You Jesus for Your gift of peace.  When the world is in chaos and there are so many reasons to fear, God make us bold to trust You and to know that everything will be okay as we rest in You and move forward in life. Your gentle whisper not to be afraid settles and calms the spirit.  Amen!
