“Give thanks to the Lord; for He is good: His mercy endures forever.” Psalms 136:1

Today, the celebrated day of Thanksgiving is upon us, let us be mindful not to wait for that one time a year in which we focus on being thankful. We should have an attitude of thanksgiving every day.  Thanking God for the many, many wonderful blessings he has favored us with. God’s Truths lets us know that God is a good God.  God loves us continuously. And we experience His goodness in our lives as we draw near to Him with a grateful heart.  His presence fills us with joy and peace.

The favor of God is upon us every day.  The problem of being thankful and expressing our gratitude perhaps is that so much of what we have, we expect to have.  In other words, we take it all for granted.

We should express our gratitude because God is worthy of our thanksgiving. Every good and perfect gift comes from God.  Expressions of gratefulness move the focus off of self. It reminds us that God is in control.  We belong to Him and that we have been favored with every spiritual blessing.  He has come to give us life, an abundant life!

From this day forward, let us purpose in our hearts to not let “Thanksgiving” be a once-a-year celebration, but a daily reality that will change our lives and make us a joyful people in every situation.  The giving of thanks to God for all His blessings should be one of the most distinctive marks we have as a believer in Christ Jesus.
